Registered Massage Therapy

You choice of Swedish massage, deep tissue massage or relaxation. Please discuss your specific needs with your registered massage therapist prior to your session.

Swedish Massage is one of the major forms of massage in the world. It’s based on knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and uses traditional manipulative techniques such as Effleurage (long strokes), Petrissage (kneading), Trigger Point therapy (knots), Tapotement (percussive, or tapping techniques), and Joint Mobilization. A Swedish massage can be slow and gentle or vigorous and bracing, depending on the results the client and therapist want to achieve.

Relaxation massage usually means you will get a massage with a lighter touch, as opposed to deep tissue massage (which is also part of the the Swedish massage system). The RMT uses hypoallergenic oil or lotion on their hands and then performs the classic massage over the client’s body and specified treatment areas. The client is always draped with sheets and a blanket, and only the part of the body being worked on is uncovered.

Please allow extra 10 – 15 minutes for changing and post massage consultation.

Receipts for medical insurance purposes will be issued upon request.

Hot Stone MassageHot Stone Massage

Hot basalt stones are placed on specific points along your spine, in the palm of your hands, or between your toes to improve the flow of energy through your body. While these layout stones are delivering concentrated centers of heat, the therapist is simultaneously using oiled heated stones and applying Swedish massage techniques to stroke along the muscles of the legs, arms, and torso. The heat from the stones relaxes your muscles and increases the blood flow to the area being treated assisting in the healing and relaxation process. Hot stone massages are performed by an RMT and are covered by insurance.

Thai MassageThai Massage

Sometimes described as “lazy yoga,” Thai massage emphasizes yoga-like stretches and acupuncture points. As it’s a full-body massage, it is at least 60 minutes long.

Traditional Thai massage uses no oils or lotions. The recipient remains clothed during a treatment. There is constant body contact between the giver and receiver, but rather than rubbing on muscles, the body is compressed, pulled, stretched and rocked. The recipient wears loose, comfortable clothing and lies on a mat or firm mattress on the floor. The receiver will be positioned in a variety of yoga-like positions during the course of the massage, that is also combined with deep static and rhythmic pressures.

Our Thai massages are performed by an RMT and are covered by most insurance plans. We use a traditional Thai mat filled with 100% organic kapok.

Reflexology

Reflexology is based on an ancient Asian/Egyptian principle that the foot is a map of reflex points (energy lines) that correspond to the organs, glands and systems of the body. By applying pressure to specific reflex points, a massage therapist can reflexively stimulate an area, reduce pain, aid in relaxation, help circulation and bring an overall sense of balance (homeostasis) to the client. You will be fully clothed during a full reflexology session, with exception of your feet. Optimum results are better with longer sessions, to a maximum of one hour. Insurance receipts are available for reflexology as our sessions are performed by a Registered Massage Therapist.
